New Delhi: France has extended its support to India amidst tensions on the border between India and China. French Defense Minister Florence Parley has expressed grief over the martyrdom of 20 Indian soldiers in a violent clash in Galvan Valley. The French Defense Minister wrote a letter to the Defense Minister of India Rajnath Singh on Monday.


 

In the letter, the French Defense Minister wrote - 'It is very sad to lose Indian soldiers, not only for the families of the soldiers but for the whole of India. I express my firm and friendly support with the French Armed Forces under these difficult circumstances. I express my condolences to the Indian Armed Forces as well as to the bereaved families. If sources are to be believed, the French Defense Minister has also expressed his desire to have a further conversation with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh soon.

 

Incidentally, India's foreign minister S Jaishankar also spoke to the French counterpart. Jaishankar wrote in a tweet- 'There was a wide discussion with the French Foreign Minister. We talked on issues of contemporary and political importance. Apart from this, we also agreed to solve the challenges related to Kovid-19. Thank you for the support and we look forward to working together. '

 

Earlier on Monday, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla and French Foreign Secretary François Deltre had discussed the Corona virus epidemic, with cooperation between the two countries, with views on global issues. During this time France welcomed India's participation in the United Nations Security Council in 2021-22.

 

France has become a close partner country in every sector of India for the past few years. Whether it is a matter of defense or not, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, a proposal to put terrorist Masood Azhar in the list of global terrorists. At the same time, the first shipment of Rafales from France will come to India by the end of July.

 

Let us tell you that PM Modi last visited France in 2019 with President Macron on the invitation to attend the G7 summit. The French President visited India in the year 2018. During this time a statement was issued on the joint strategic approach of India-France in the Indian Ocean region.
