Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane on Sunday (May 10, 2020) educated that his power intends to present the Integrated Battle Groups (IBG) along the fringes with China and Pakistan for quick strikes if there should arise an occurrence of a war circumstance. Addressing news office PTI, the General expressed that a "test-bedding" for the equivalent had been finished yet the rollout has been postponed for years to come due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.


Integrated battle group is a combination of all army units such as infantry, tanks, artillery etc. in one to upgrade war capabilities. IBG will be expert in specific operational tasks placing all criteria into consideration. Army decided to have 5000 troops in each IBG under the leadership of Major General.

Indian Army in 2019, tested and tried the concept of IBG when they carried out “Him Vijay” exercise in Arunachal Pradesh. They also check the effectiveness of these units in different combat situations in mountains terrains.
Integrated Battle Group will be theatre-specific that means they will be experts to operate in a special terrain, unit deployed in deserts will have all equipment and forces that are trained for desert warfare whereas unit deployed in mountains will have all suitable equipment and training
